Morimoto-Philadelphia
I went to Iron Chef Morimoto’s restaurant while I was in Philadelphia. My friend Cynthia joined me as she now lives in Philly. The service was impeccable and the food was really outstanding. The restaurant itself was really beautiful. I think one of the most aesthetically amazing restaurants I’ve been to. The seating lit up and changed colors throughout the night. The organic shapes and design on the walls was very sensuous. The wavy wood ceiling was a sight to see. I especially liked the mitotic-shaped cut outs–looking down from the bar loft to the dining room (see pictures below).
We ordered the Omakase (which is a chef’s tasting menu). The duck and foie gras dish with cherry compote was very Iron Chef. We also loved the dessert so much, we had to order another one at the end. It was black sesame mousse with ganache. I love black sesame anything so we had to splurge! The drinks were outstanding too. Cynthia had a drink with pear essence that was really good and I had a non-alcoholic ginger ale with orange essence that I loved. The only weird thing about the place was the unusual, vibrator-like light that was in the middle of the table that you couldn’t move. All in all a great night!
Sorry for the photos…I just had my iPhone and it was dark in there.
